A Beautifully Tailored Keepsake Made From Treasured Clothing
My Tailored Memory Bear is a special way to preserve smart or meaningful clothing. The bear features a built-in waistcoat-style front, complete with buttons, together with a separate miniature jacket handmade from your loved one's clothing.
Perfect for suits, jackets, blazers and other special garments, this design retains some of the character of the original clothing while transforming it into a keepsake you can treasure.
Some items of clothing are instantly recognisable. A favourite suit worn to every special occasion. Dad's jacket. Grandad's blazer. The outfit someone always looked smart in.
My Tailored Memory Bear with Waistcoat and Jacket has been designed for those special pieces.
Rather than simply using the fabric to make the bear, I incorporate clothing-inspired details into the design. The body features a built-in waistcoat with buttons, while the separate miniature jacket is individually handmade to fit the finished bear.
The result is a beautifully detailed memory bear that retains the character of the original clothing.
Built-In Waistcoat Detail
The front of the bear is styled to create the appearance of a smart waistcoat.
Buttons from the original clothing can be incorporated where suitable, helping preserve even more of the details you remember. Unlike a removable waistcoat, this section forms part of the bear itself, giving the keepsake its distinctive tailored appearance.
Separate Handmade Jacket
The miniature jacket is made separately and fitted to the finished bear. I can use details from the original garment where possible, creating a little jacket that complements the waistcoat underneath. Because every garment is different, the finished jacket will be unique to the clothing you provide.

I carefully plan each bear before cutting into your clothing, considering the pattern, texture and special details that could be incorporated into the finished keepsake.
All suitable fabrics are interfaced before construction. This helps stabilise the original material and gives it additional strength and longevity.

Size
The finished bear is approximately 12 inches tall. As every bear is handmade from your clothing, there will naturally be slight variations between individual keepsakes.
Care Instructions
This is a handmade keepsake created for display purposes and is not suitable for children under 14 years of age. I recommend spot cleaning only when required.
How Ordering Works.
Place your order through my website and you'll receive an email explaining where to send your clothing.
There's no need to rush to send it immediately. If you're unsure which garments would work best for this particular design, you can contact me for advice before sending anything.
Once I receive your clothing, your order is booked into my sewing diary. My turnaround is approximately 4 weeks from receiving your clothing.
Tracked UK delivery or collection from my North East studio is available.

Can you make bears from a suit?
Yes. This design is particularly suited to suits and smart clothing because I can use the different fabrics and details to create the bear, built-in waistcoat and miniature jacket.
Is the waist coat removable?
No. The waistcoat-style section is built into the body of the bear.
Is the Jacket removable?
Yes. The miniature jacket is made separately to fit your finished memory bear.
Can you use the original buttons?
Where they're suitable for the design, original buttons can be incorporated into your keepsake.
Can you use more than one piece of clothing?
Yes. Different garments can be combined, which can work particularly well when creating the contrasting waistcoat, bear and jacket. I can use a shirt to create the body and collar of the bear to make the bear look like wearing a full suit
Can you add embroidery?
Yes. Personalised embroidery can be added to one or both feet, and handwriting embroidery is also available as a separate add-on.
What happens if I am unsure of what clothing to use?
Please contact me before ordering or sending your clothing. I'm always happy to look at what you have and advise you.

How to Send Your Clothing:
Step 1: Order & Payment – As soon as your order is placed and payment is completed, a confirmation email will be sent straight to your inbox.
Step 2: Delivery Details – This email will provide the exact address and instructions on where your clothing needs to go.
Step 3: Drop-off or Post
Locals: You will find details on how to schedule a face-to-face drop-off at my Washington studio (perfect for families across Newcastle, Sunderland, and Durham).
Posting: If you are mailing your items, I highly recommend using a tracked and insured service (such as Royal Mail Special Delivery) for absolute peace of mind with your irreplaceable garments.
Unused Fabric/Items
I treat every piece of clothing you send me with the utmost care and respect. Once your custom keepsake is complete, any remaining, usable fabric and buttons will be neatly packed and returned to you in a clearly labelled, sealed bag alongside your finished order.
I keep these pieces safely protected so that if you ever decide you would like to order additional keepsakes in the future your cherished textiles are perfectly preserved and ready to be used.

They are not intended for play and are not suitable for under 14 year olds.
Shipping Info
Shipping information.
All clothing should be sent to me using a tracked and insured postal service. This helps ensure your items arrive safely and can be tracked during transit.
Once your memory bear is complete, it will be returned to you via Royal Mail Tracked 24 or Tracked 48, depending on the option selected at checkout. You’ll receive tracking details once your order has been dispatched.
Return & Refund Policy
Returns & refunds
Because memory bears are bespoke items made using your own clothing, refunds are handled as follows:
Once work has started on your memory bear, the order cannot be cancelled or refunded.
If you wish to cancel your order before sending your items, please get in touch and include your order number. A full refund can be arranged at this stage.
If your items have been received but work has not yet started, a refund can be processed minus a 25% handling fee. This fee covers administration and preparation costs.
Postage costs for returning your items are not included and will need to be covered separately before your items are sent back to you.
If you have any questions about cancellations or refunds before ordering, please don’t hesitate to contact me — I’m always happy to clarify anything in advance.
I take great care to ensure every memory bear is made to a high standard. If, for any reason, your item arrives in an unsatisfactory condition due to workmanship, please get in touch within 14 days of receiving your order so I can review the issue and work with you to put things right.
